Saf.AI is a mobile application made by four students of The Mother's International School, New Delhi. Created at the Shriteq '17 Hackathon held at The Shri Ram School, Moulsari, the AI-driven technology helps people keep their surroundings clean by encouraging better waste disposal methods.
The term Saf.AI is a play on the Hindi word safai, which means 'to clean' or 'cleanliness', and AI, which is what mainly powers the application.
Saf.AI uses computer vision to detect the type of garbage someone is reporting and posts a listing with appropriate requirements. For example, if the photo is of a pile of plastic bottles, Saf.AI will give you a recyclability ratio. It will then help you contact local organisations that have the resources to dispose off such waste.
